Stylized lettering is a fun art form that introduces students to drawing 3D, AND gives them plenty of room for creativity. We'll learn about the art of graffiti (no property will be damaged) and kids will design their own "tag".

Manga! Students will spend a couple of weeks learning about portrait drawing and get to do a self portrait in this fun Japanese drawing style.

In this introduction to basic cartooning, students will learn how to illustrate a 3 panel comic strip, using basic "keyhole" people.  We'll also go over some ways illustrators use exaggeration to design their own characters, as well as learn about proportions when drawing people.

We'll end the semester, with a favorite of students....printmaking!
Younger students will first draw designs onto styrofoam printing plates and create colorful prints, then learn how to make fun bubble prints. Older students will use "soft kut" printing pads to carve their design and print.
