"Say it with Art" - Fall semester course - In Person
In this 8 session course, students will use a variety of mediums to explore ways that art is used to express and communicate. All of my classes include lessons in foundational art techniques and principles, art history and appreciation in a structured, positive, creative learning environment.
*Weekly one hour sessions in my home/studio in south Anchorage
*All supplies included
*Classes for kids ages 6 and up
*Class size limited to 7 students
Cost: $395 per student ($355 for each sibling)

Ages 6-10:
Mondays 4:00- 5:00, Mondays 5:15 - 6:15, Tuesdays 10:00 - 11:00
Ages 11 and up:
Mondays 2:00 - 3:00 , Tuesdays 4:00- 5:00 (mixed age class for kids 8 -13)

Say it with Sign Language - Learning to draw hands is a much requested lesson. In this class, students will learn the basics of hand drawing, while also learning some American Sign Language! *Younger students will create a simpler 3 dimensional version, on a patterned background of their design (while learning about composition, pattern and color theory). Older students will do a realistic observation drawing, using one of 3 hand drawing methods.

Say it with Your Eyes - Students are often surprised how well they can draw eyes after just one lesson! In this class, students will learn the basics of drawing eyes from observation, then use graphite or colored pencils to draw a pair of eyes showing various expressions.
Say it with Texture - Students will experiment with a variety of materials and mediums (paper, modeling paste, glue, paint, etc.) to create unique textured art pieces. So much opportunity for creativity and exploration!
Say it with a Story - You don't have to be a writer to tell a compelling story. In this lesson, students will learn about artists who are story tellers with pictures (and sometimes words). Older students will come up with a story (their own or from a prompt), and paint a scene on fabric to illustrate it (inspired by artist and author Faith Ringgold). Younger students will create moveable paper figures and a backdrop to tell stories of their own.

Say it with Pattern -Learn how math and art connect. Students will use paper to create a 3 dimensional radial design, and learn about tessellations, while highlighting artist M.C.Escher and other mathematician/ artists.
