Frequently Asked Questions
Where is your studio located?
My home/studio is located in south Anchorage, Alaska, just off O'Malley and the Seward Hwy (not far from Independence Park).
What age students can take your classes?
In person classes are for kids as young as 6 (or who will turn 6 during the semester). Five year olds are welcome on a trial basis if the parent feels they are ready for classes.
I have my classes divided into classes for ages 6-10, and 11 and up, although 10 year olds are welcome to attend an older class if they prefer and 11 year olds may attend a younger class. I also offer at least "mixed age" class a semester (for ages approximately 8-12). The projects are geared toward these age groups. Private class times are available (limited) for 6-7 students who want to take a class together.
Jr. high and High school students may register for either my weekly class for ages 11 and up, or a drawing or painting intensive class just for their age group (or both!)
What payment options are available? Do you offer scholarships?
I am currently an approved vendor with several charter schools in Alaska (Family Partnership, IDEA, Frontier...) and am able to bill them if funds are allotted for the course.
I also take venmo or credit card payments through PayPal (an extra charge applies for PayPal), as well as checks or cash. I would love for every child to be able to develop their art skills, regardless of financial means. If you are not receiving allotment through a charter school, and are unable to afford classes, please let me know and I'll do my best to come up with an arrangement that will work.
What is your cancellation policy?
For virtual classes, once supplies are received, no full refunds will be given. In the case of in person classes, no refunds are given once classes have begun.
What if my child has to miss a class (either in person or online)?
Several classes are offered throughout the week. If a child will miss their reserved time slot, they are welcome to attend a different one that same week, provided there is room. Students taking in person classes who miss a week, may request to receive a recap of the missed lesson if they'd like to do it at home.
Once my student is registered, what next?
You will receive a confirmation email with details about the class, payment options, etc.
For students registered for in person classes, they will receive all supplies needed during the classes.
For students registered for virtual classes, they will receive an email and text when supplies are ready to be picked up or shipped. Inside each supply kit will be everything they need for the semester, including envelopes for each lesson with printed instructions and reference materials. Once supplies are picked up, an email will be sent with links to all of the online tutorials.
For ALL students wishing to pay partly or in full through a charter school, contact your school to make sure funds are allotted toward the classes prior to classes starting. Parents are responsible for any remaining tuition not covered by the charter school.
