Sonia Pullins is an acrylic painter whose work captures the grandeur of the natural world through a distinctive style.
Born in Southern California and based in Anchorage, Alaska since 2000, she draws inspiration from the dramatic landscapes of her adopted home - mountain peaks, glacial valleys and expansive skies - depicting them in compositions defined by bold value contrasts, and a refined use of color. Viewers are invited to step into the scene, to feel the awe as well as the intimacy of place. Sonia describes her process as an "ongoing pursuit, a way of observing the world and capturing a moment" with each painting reflecting a deep engagement with her surroundings.
An artist and educator for over 30 years, Sonia has exhibited at the Anchorage Museum and is represented by Stephan Fine Arts in Anchorage, Alaska. Her work is held in private collections and is recognized for its ability to blend contemporary minimalism with the timeless allure of the natural world.
When not in the studio, she can be found hiking Alaska's trails, kayaking , or traveling the world in search of new perspectives.
